Was originally happy with the basics then Job took much longer than advised, had to keep coming back to refit things. Did not check their work, had to point out problems such as chipped edges, incorrectly cut flooring & panels. Terrible job fitting bathroom door and will now need to employ a carpenter to rectify issues. Electrician had to be called back to rectify ceiling fan issues which mean roof had to be accessed twice. Floor not levelled properly so there is now a depression in it. Would not be recommending this firm.

After receiving a fair quote with a clear breakdown of all costs we were more than happy for SJL plumbing to complete the renovations in our traditional Edwardian house. Steve wasn’t phased at all after lockdown changed our needs and we changed our plans for the renovations; he simply sent a quote for the alternative work, once again with a clear breakdown of all costs. Our new shower room is beautiful, as is our new attic bedroom and hallway with traditional arch. We received daily updates about how the work was going and Steve consulted us before making any decisions we hadn’t already discussed. The team put time aside to alter or fix anything we weren’t 100% happy with after the completion date, which reflected their attitude throughout the process. We are so pleased we chose SJL plumbing and have already recommended them to our friends!

The two boys worked their socks off to complete a full boiler replacement quickly and efficiently. They were very tidy and took all their rubbish away with them. They were also friendly and respectful of their environment (we have a young baby and they tipped us off when they were going to make a lot of noise so we could take him out). Chris is also very knowledgable about his trade and took the time to talk us through using the new nest app to operate the thermostat. We have used SJL before and based on our dealings with them they come highly recommended.

Steve and Chris are both knowledgeable engineers who I would recommend to anyone who want a friendly, honest and quick repair done in their home. We are looking at having our bathroom re-designed and fitted in the near future and we will certainly be asking Steve to give us a quote for this job to be undertaken. Chris carried out the repair on our boiler and he also pointed out to me adviseries to take into account regarding parts of the boiler system, which I appreciated. He was also quite happy to discuss with me the differences between the old and new boilers and why the new boilers are more efficient and explained it in simple terms. Highly recommend SJL Plumbing. I couldn’t fault any of their work - my worries were put to bed from when we had the initial quote visit, so before we even had the quote I was sold on them! They remained professional and friendly throughout their time fitting, and were available to answer all our questions any time of day. We had some issues with the bathroom we bought (nothing to do with SJL) but the guys were so flexible and sorted all issues out for us with no stress and so quickly! There was also an issue with pipes leaking/breaking/bursting (I don’t know the technicalities) but our landing wall and kitchen ceiling had to be cut away and there were water marks all over the ceiling, but again SJL Plumbing fixed them at their own cost and time, rectified the issue and even re-painted the wall and ceiling for us! I couldn’t have asked for any more from these guys - definitely recommend and will reuse in future!

Following installation of a new boiler I decided to use SJL for a quote to remove a bath and install a shower. Following a very reasonable quote I decided to use this company. I was advised by Steve the day and time the contractors would be at my home. Both were spot on. I don't know how many contractors are utilised by SJL but I feel I had the best doing the work at my home. I was lucky enough to have the team of Lee & Rhys (Foz). I am unable to tell you who was 'team leader' as both worked closely with each other and their professionalism and work ethic was excellent. Throughout the project there was banter which clearly demonstrated a very good working relationship. At each stage I was kept informed of the progress. Both worked throughout both days without a break. On the middle day an apprentice (Keilan) assisted in the project. I feel working with Lee & Foz he is in good hands and time with Lee & Foz will be invaluable to his future progress. Throughout the project they came across 'cowboy' style 'workmanship' or should that read 'workmansh*t'....but in their professional ethic simply worked through it all. The finished product is perfect. My bathroom and areas of the house used by them was left in a clean and tidy state. I think SJL are very lucky to have both Lee and Foz on their books. Quality craftsmen with a very professional work ethic.

I requested a service of my boiler but was to find that a new boiler was needed. (From observation my choice, not a 'sales pitch' from the technician) Stephen Lightfoot was able to provide me with a very competitive quote for boiler and installation. The quote was accepted on a Friday and my new boiler was to be fitted on the Monday. On the Monday technician Chris arrived and worked throughout the day on installation. His manner was professional and he would inform me of each process he was working on, also showing me how the various parts would operate. All work areas, including walk through areas in the home was covered in drop sheets to protect my home. I liked the way in which Chris would advise/instruct as to how things would operate. His manner was always professional and he displayed what I consider 'best business practice', as demonstrated by the 5 star rating. I will have no hesitation in recommending this business as from the onset to completion the manner in which I was dealt with and the wok ethic employed was First rate.

Having to replace a boiler is a harrowing, not to mention expensive, process, but this was the best it could be. The verbal quote was very reasonable, the clear and unambiguous written quote as confirmation was professionally presented and the actual works carried out caused the least inconvenience possible. Because of location, my refit was a particularly difficult one, but no fuss was made, and my offer of a "bonus" was rejected as not necessary. Fab job, and I'm warm again at last. Job - Conversion of 1st floor cloak toilet and bedroom to bathroom Trades required - Plumbing, tiling, carpentry, plastering, electrical, painting, heating How SJL performed - Our 1st interaction was with Steve, he accurately appraised the job required, promptly issued an itemised fixed quotation which was excellent value for the scale of the job. SJL made a professional and trustworthy first impression on us from the outset which was important to our decision making process. An introduction was made to Lee, who lead the project for SJL which took 6 weeks to complete. Lee is a great communicator and problem solver, he absolutely cares about quality along with his own and SJL's reputation and went above and beyond his remit on this project to see the job through, great job Lee! Lee was supported by Rhys (Foz) who possesses similar traits to Lee, they work great as a team given Foz is a plumbing parts expert. Both were punctual, trustworthy, friendly, positive and also supported the completion of other non bathroom related project tasks at the property and dealt with my bathroom provider on technical matters when supplier problems arose. SJL sub-contracted plastering, electrical and painting trades with Lee and Foz taking on the plumbing, tiling, carpentry tasks. We purchased the bathroom from Porcelanosa, the whole customer experience with them was unfortunately very poor with incorrect, missing parts being delivered, delivery dates and times missed, poor technical advice given which lead to Lee taking the lead to proactively resolve many of their issues which we are very grateful for, Foz even took in a home delivery for us one evening when we could not! I am a perfectionist with an eye for detail and am not easy to please. I have absolutely no complaints with the plumbing, carpentry, bathroom suite fitting and painting work undertaken. The plastering to the bathroom ceiling was average, the plastering to my utility room ceiling was good. The electricians had to come back to the property to fix the extract which wasn't working correctly, but they did sort it so no complaints there. The tiling was very good as opposed to excellent (although our walls / ceiling aren't plumb being an old house). A heating problem arose during the bathroom install which resulted in some radiators not operating. This took a few attempts and a couple of days of effort to resolve lead by Steve and supported by Chris, Foz and Lee who replaced a couple of radiators and basically renewed my heating system which is now working better than ever. In summary, after weeks of effort put in by SJL, we are delighted with our bathroom. This was a challenging project hindered by pre-existing heating issues and poor service from Porcelanosa. SJL saw the job through to completion and were reassuring and patient throughout the process, I could not fault their fantastic effort and commitment which was commendable. We would wholeheartedly recommend SJL and we will be having them back for a future project (if they want to come back :-)). I was so worried about finding a good bathroom fitter but I feel very lucky to have found SJL Plumbing and Heating. They are super quick to respond to messages, full of knowledge and advice, and do a first class job. Everyone I dealt with from this company - the fitters, the painter and the boss - were professional, efficient and flexible and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had some very good advice from Steve at the start on where to source the shower, toilet etc and a competitive quote. His tradesmen, Lee and Rhys, were first rate. They were helpful, considerate and neat. They went out of their way to accommodate us as they were working in the only bathroom / toilet in the flat. They were as keen to do a first rate job as we were and took immense care to get everything right and to our satisfaction. They even got to us through the very heavy snow in Cardiff at the end of Feb / beginning of March. In summary, I can’t recommed them too highly.

I am absolutely delighted with the quality of the finish. The service was exceptional. The trades were professional and pleasant - a fantastic mix all co-ordinated by Steve. The price was very reasonable but this did not compromise the finish one jot! The price was fixed and yet the guys (rightly to my mind) took the time and care to get the finish perfect. The trades stripped out the old bathroom, installed a new freestanding bath, walk-in shower, toilet and vanity unit; installed parquet flooring in a herringbone pattern; tiled the shower in herringbone pattern; replastered the entire room; decorated and installed wall lights, ceiling light and an extractor fan. The project manager and chief trade was Lee who I cannot praise highly enough for his dedication and careful attention to detail. I would have no hesitation at all in recommending SJL; you will not be disappointed!

Called SJL, with the uncertainty of getting an engineer out on an early Sunday morning during unsociable hours!! But Steve answered call and tried to help diagnose fault over phone before he decided he would turn up, found fault collected new part and fitted same day was in & out within an hour clean and tidy! Steve and Lee have done a fantastic job completely refitting our bathroom! Steve came and gave us a fast quote and set a date for the start, which he kept to. A lot of the work was completed in a very professional manner by Lee, he took great pride in ensuring the work was completed to a high standard. The job took a couple of weeks, throughout this time both Lee and Steve were easy to chat to and answered any queries we had as the job progressed. We found them to be trustworthy, hardworking and conscientious. We wholeheartedly recommend them.

Steve came out straight away to give a quote and began the job 2 days later which was fantastic as our previous boiler had been condemned so we were without heating and hot water. We had an old back boiler and were replacing it with a new combi boiler. Steve and Chris were professional and helpful with any queries I had throughout the job and kept me up to date with progress. They were tidy and friendly and worked non stop from the moment they arrived. The finished product was great, boiler was fitted perfectly exactly where we wanted it and everything that needed to be, was neatly removed. We now have a great working system & a warm house!! Steve and his team have been great value for money for all the work they have done.

Stephen was the only Plumber who given us a written quote. Always arrived on time and very friendly attitude. As all job goes, deliveries are never on time and Stephen was more than happy to re-schedule some of the work will we were waiting for the goods. Our bathroom was particularly challenging and posed many problems . It is an old house where the walls are not square, the floor not level. Despite everything seeming to be against them they completed the job and we are very happy. We found SJL plumbing on reputable trades people. They contacted us within 15 minutes and the day after Steve from SJL came to the house and gave us a quote for the job. We thought his quote was very good and we offered him the job. Steve and a colleague started the job on Monday 08 Aug 2016 and finished the job on Wednesday 10 Aug 2016. We must say that the way they went about there work and the way they cleaned up after each day was amazing. We are so happy with the work that SJL have done that we now intend to give them a complete bathroom. We would have no hesitation in recomending SJL for any future work to our family and friends. JOB VERY WELL DONE and nice guys.
