Tank Plumbing, Heating & Property Services answered the question "What is the best combi boiler in 2019?"

I have installed almost every make of boiler on the market. my absolute favourite is the Baxi 600/ 800 range. up to a 10 year warranty with this range backed up by outstanding customer service. Brass manifold, stainless steel heat exchanger, one touch filling loop, easy to use and connect to via external controls. one great feature is a rainwater catchment tray inside the boiler. This will divert any rainwater which may enter the air intake on the flue directly to the condensate drain. This is something that most other manufacturers dont do. without this the water can damage the fan, gas valve and boiler electrics. very nice feature in my opinion.

As I have worked for Baxi for 5 years I’m gonna be biased over that brand, the new Baxi 600/800 is for me combi of 2019. The original Baxi duotec was a fantastic boiler and the 600/800 are modelled on this but are now a cupboard fit boiler and can run pipes down the back of the boiler with out using a stand of kit, very easy to install and commission. Ideal logic was always my second choice if a duotec could not fit in the space but now Baxi do the 600/800 I don’t need to use ideal anymore.

For me this year I’d pick the Baxi 600 range. It’s a fantastic little boiler that is cupboard fit and set up for different types of heating controls, the controls on the boiler are easy to use and the keyless filling link is perfect for the end user. Personally I’m not set on certain brands as customers can be set on certain makes and have researched themselves.

For me it’s a toss up between two boilers for me, one would be the Atag economiser with its FGR system and if you couple it with a Atag One controller you hit all requirements for boiler plus with a 10 year warranty it’s hard to beat. But the Baxi 600 is also right up there for me as well. All my quotes that get sent out always include these two boilers as a option & now potentially the 800 as well which looks like a impressive piece of kit

For me the best combi boiler of 2019 has to be the Baxi 600. Built on the success of the Duo-Tec & Platinum this boiler has it all. Stainless steel heat exchanger, brass hydro blocks, cupboard fit, rear piping without need for stand off jig, open therm compatible, weather comp with Baxi’s innovative IFOS (In Flue Outside Sensor) which has won awards. Easily serviceable with front access for all components and quiet operation means it is a winner for the service engineer & customer. With the added bonus of 7 year warranty as standard you can’t go wrong!

I’m not accredited by one brand so I’m unbiased. I quote for different boilers depending on the customer needs. However I do have a couple of personal favourites. So for me it’s between two... I like the Baxi 600 series for ease of installation, brass components, reliability and comes with a good warranty. My other would be the new and improved Alpha E-Tec plus. They have remodelled and added Honeywell and grundfos components. They have a combined condense and PRV for ease of installation. The Alpha is a low cost boiler which meets a lot of customers needs and budgets. Always good to have something like that in your back pocket.

At DC Heating and Plumbing we advise customers on which boilers we recommend, i am a firm believer in learning about a product and sticking with a product you rely on and have faith you wont be getting call backs, i recommend the Ideal Vouge as my top of the range model which comes in the combination boiler and the system boiler and for the lower end i stick with ideal and go for the ideal logic plus, for both boilers you get a great customer warranty 7 - 10 years, there ease of installation compared to some models which in turn benefits the customer and i have never had an issue if ideal are called out to a boiler fault. they are extremely competitive on cost when comparing to other well know manufacturers. they give you the options for all of there own independant heating controls and offer all of the things needed to stay boiler plus compliant. a great bit of kit at a competitive price

Bells Heating & Gas actually believe the Baxi 600 range boilers have been the best combis of 2019. They have been built on the success of its predecessors the Duo-Tec & Platinum. Baxi have taken made it easier for installers to service & maintain the 600 range by making access to the full boiler very easy. The weight of the boiler is lighter than the duo-tec/platinum. Most of all its as quiet as a mouse. With its opentherm compatibility, efficiency has been brilliant saving customers over £100 in energy bills. For an installer its been amazing. For my customers, its been a dream!

The Vaillant is by far the beat boiler on the market. It’s also the holder of which quiet mark approved and was the top of which this year 2019. Far better boiler to work on and less issues than a lot of boiler brands out there. They are expensive but if you want a quality boiler with quality controls then Vaillant is your brand. Comes with a10 year warranty on the plus with a filter and the cupboard fit Pure to rival the Worcester they is no better boiler in my opinion. So if you want a boiler that’s got that edge, get the Vaillant.

MLD HEATING answered the question "What is the best combi boiler in 2019?"

I always recommend a Baxi boiler to my customers, there are many reasons why, they are a brand that have been around for many years making quality boilers to last at reasonable prices, the Baxi Duo-tec and Platinum have been around for nearly 20 years which they have kept up to date with the latest technology to keep them relevant the latest would be the Erp pump inside, they offer long warranty’s on the product and not the installer who installed it which shows the faith they have in there products, the aftercare is also second to none, there latest boiler the Baxi 600 range is a step up offering a cupboard fit boiler with built in stand off bracket and out the box warranty of 7 years, its Opentherm capability means you can use it with the major thermostat suppliers such as Honeywell and Nest and get the full features these offer, all Baxi boilers have brass parts inside which is just not the case with the other major manufacturers, so in a nutshell if your looking for a quality boiler with great customer service and the latest technology choose Baxi.

Answered by PT Heating and Plumbing

26th April 2019

PT Heating and Plumbing answered the question "What is the best combi boiler in 2019?"

Recommending the best boiler will depend on the specific requirements of each customer. Budget, number of radiators and number of bathrooms are just a few questions that will sway any recommendations. E.g If a customer wants a long warranty but doesn’t want to pay for a premium for it then you can’t go far wrong with the Baxi Platinum range. If a customer has had bad experience with customer service then they would perhaps be willing to pay a little more for piece of mind and Worcester could be the way to go. The length of the warranty is only relevant if they are happy to commit to an annual service and I have found some customers would neglect this after a few years but would have paid more for the boiler originally for the longer warranties. Some installers benefit more from specific brands so I always try to give impartial advice based on the customer requirements rather than steer them to a brand that may not be the best for them. I also try to provide a couple of options at different price points. Also ensure that you are receiving the latest advice, on combi boilers this is currently Boiler Plus. You need to ensure you are compliant with current regulations but also that any quotes you are comparing offer the same value and specifications. It’s not just the boiler you are buying, sometimes there will be magnetic filters to protect the boiler, TRVs for radiators and controls for heating (and possibly hot water). These can all vary greatly in price. Ensure you understand exactly what you are buying before committing.

It is the best combi boiler on the market. I would recommend it to every household upto no more than two bathrooms. The price for an installation would depends on if it is a combi to combi swap, gas supply pipe work, location of drain for condense and flue position. City Gas answered the question "What is the best combi boiler in 2019?"

I am a Baxi Member here at City Gas, and I would say that BAXI are the best combi boilers on the market. From an installer point of view its very installer friendly, especially when it comes to repairs & servicing. Its a nationally recognised brand and customers easily recognise the name when recommending a boiler. I have started recommending the 600 range as i find its a very quiet boiler that fits in kitchen cupboards and that alone is a selling point; not to mention 7 Years warranty; oh, also dont stop me from adding the technical helpline. Then if we look at the customers point of view, customers tend to think a combi swap costs thousands of pounds where as with a Baxi, i can do a 600 combi swap, same location for under £2K with a boiler plus compliant room stat and filter. Secondly, lets look at the Baxi breakdown service; I haven't had any customer have to call the warranty yet but im told response is within 24 hours (correct me if im wrong) which includes parts and labour subject to the boiler being under warranty. I could go on but I'll finish off on one of the best reason i say Baxi is the best boiler to install and this is because most already have Baxi's installed so installing another Baxi is like fitting a glove, it just slides on (minimal pipe work adjustments). As for the style of home this boiler is suitable for, I'd say a family house/homes with a lot of usage needs who are also looking for reliability. Price wise, for me to install a Baxi boiler it would cost £1,500 - £2,500 depending on actual work description.

Baxi have some very good boilers but as an installer, I think some of the warranty periods are too short compared to their competitors.

Attenborough Heating answered the question "What is the best combi boiler in 2019?"

The Baxi Duo-tec 28 ERP combination boiler ticks all the boxes. It is a mid-priced boiler offering excellent value for money. It has a well established design making it very reliable and also benefitting from a long warranty with excellent customer service. It is easy for engineers to service and maintain. Alternatively, the Baxi Platinum is more or less the same boiler but with a longer warranty, so I also recommend that model. The only issue for some installations is that these boilers are 'standard-size' and will not fit into tight spaces that require a compact boiler. Combi boilers are a great solution in small to mid-sized properties where there is only one bathroom. The main consideration for combi boilers is the hot water performance. They are great when one hot tap is open, but flow rates reduce when more than one tap is open. I would charge £1200 for parts and £600 for labour (inc VAT).

Answered by Gas Doctor Services

Gas Doctor Services answered the question "What is the best combi boiler in 2019?"

In my opinion Baxi produce the best value boilers on the market for every domestic application I generally encounter. Wether that be replacing an existing Combi boiler with the latest generation for optimum efficiency and helping the enviroment and your gas bills, or a system upgrade for an obsolete back boiler unit to a wall mounted condensing boiler. Vailant, Worcester Bosh and Intergas are all worthy of consideration too. Baxi boilers can be fitted in any type of property as they have models to suit everything from bedsits, flats, terraced houses, detached properties, bungalows and much larger family homes. A range of customers over the many years I have been in this industry from first time buyers, landlords, working and retired people all benefit from quality Baxi products. The main reason I have been loyal to baxi for close on 20 years now is that they provide a high quality product which has proved reliable over time and if and when you do require spares to repair their products they are reasonably priced and readily available. This is not the case with all manufacturers, especially at the cheaper end of the market, where the product may be cheaper initially, but often less reliable and expensive to repair, adding insult to injury, as the old saying goes "Buy cheap, buy it twice" I always like to give genuine advice to my customers, old and new and I always base that advice on "If I was advising my retired parents what to spend their hard earned pension on, what would I reccomend to them?" In my opinion based on many years in the business and specialising in repairs and servicing alongside installations, you can't go wrong with Baxi. Just make sure that any installer is Gas Safe registered and ask to see their identity card to prove it, like the old Corgi scheme that was around for decades before, it shows you that the tradesman is competant and not a chancer and gives you a form or redress if any gas safety issues should crop up after work has been completed as Gas Safe will come and inspect work if requested and if there is a serious fault the Health and Safety Executive can get involved too. Gas Safe have the power to insist that installers rectify faults for free, should that be necessary, so for your own peace of mind and safety, it's cheaper in the long run to go with a registered installer for all servicing, repairs gas safety checks, landlords certification and installations. It's impossible and unprofessional to give an average figure for replcing a boiler, as the variance between properties is huge, it could be as little as £200 to £6000 depending on the type of property, the location and type of existing appliances, wether or not an upgraded gas supply is required or a new location with no gas pipe handy. There are litterally a thousand variations in the job, the customers requirements, the type and size of property, the type of controls to time nd temperature for your comfort, from basic 24 hour time switches and manual wall thermostats to digital wifi connected systems, which you can control via an App on your phone when your not even at the property. Ideal for turning the heating on before you get home, maintaining the comfort of elderly relatives who may suffer with dementia or other limiting conditions and be grateful for the help without you even needing to be present to keep them comfortable. Although I am sure they would appreciate a visit too and a chat :)
