This depends on which make of boiler is being serviced. Some manufacturers only want a full strip down and clean every 3-4 years. This then includes new seals and gaskets etc. Some Manufacturers recommend a full strip and clean service every year. Generally a service will be between 1 hour to 1 and a half hours. There are generic tests that need to be carried out during a service, but there are also “Manufacturer Specific” tests which are required to be carried out. At Air Plumbing & Heating Ltd, we feel it is vitally important for our Engineers to attend various Manufacturers Training courses in order to know how each one wishes their boilers to be serviced and maintained. Air Plumbing & Heating Ltd prides itself on carrying out our boiler services to a high standard, following Manufacturers recommendations.

A boiler service should take approximately an hour depending on the boiler model. A service to manufactures instructions is what would be required to keep your boiler warranty void, anything less should be avoided. BoilerOne recommend you instruct a gas safe registered engineer to service your boiler.

On average a room sealed Boiler will take between 40mins to an hour, dependent on manufacturers criteria. With Conventional or Open Flue Boilers this can take an hour plus as there is need for more stringent flue testing and a need to fully strip the appliance for thorough tests. This type is now becoming a rarity, However in My Hometown we have a lot of Warm Air Heating so they keep me busy.

Anything from 30 min to 2hrs depending on the type of boiler and the condition it is in. for example a back boiler with gas fire that not been serviced in yrs and has soot on the burner, heatex and catchment space needing serverly cleaned. compared to one done yearly could be a hours difference in time. new condencing combis only require full strip down in their 2,3rd or 4th year of use as long as reading on measuring instruments like flue gas analyser and monometer are fine and within range. Anything from 30min to 90min

A gas boiler service should take around 45 minutes to 1 hour 30 mins depending on the boiler. Some heat exchangers are easier to gain access to than others and some will require a thorough clean if a service has not been carried out for a while. It’s important to have your boiler serviced regularly to check and maintain that it is running safely and efficiently. Also you could pick up on future problems before a boiler will break down causing much hassle.

A boiler service can take between 30 mins to an hour and a half or longer in some cases if more work is required. A boiler engineer will need to work on your boiler and check your gas meter. You can help your engineer; and speed things up; by clearing the area around the boiler and show them where your boiler controls, isolation switches and thermostats are. Don't be afraid to ask any questions about your boiler or controls so you fully understand what you have. Please advise your engineer if you've noticed any problems but it helps if you tell them in advance as they may need to bring additional parts or tools.
