What should I do if there's a blocked drain outside my house?
It is worth checking who is responsible for the drain outside of your property, sometimes the local water authority will cover them if its shared. If it is your responsibility we would always advise you call a professional as you can make the problem worse if you don't know what your doing! If your still adamant on diy, buy a decent set of drain rods (Cheap sets are known for snapping in the sewer causing bigger problems!)
What are the common causes of blocked drains?
Most domestic drain blockages are caused from wet wipes and excessive use of tissues paper. Kitchen waste pipes tend to block due to grease and food build up in the pipes. In commercial property our common call outs are blocked urinals and kitchen waste pipes. This is normally caused from poor maintenance, undersized or incorrectly fitted pipework.
Do electric boilers need servicing?
There is no need for an annual safety check. Landlords who have gas or oil appliances must have them checked annually to make sure there not emitting harmful gasses. As there are no emissions from an electric boiler there no need for an annual check. There is also no legal requirement to have the appliance serviced annually but check with manufacturer as you could invalidate any warranty.
