What is the best combi boiler for a 2-3 bedroom house?
Ok - so this question can be rather ambiguous without a survey of the property. But, generally we would recommend a 28kw boiler for the job. This will supply ample hot water and run the heating system very efficiently. When looking for a new boiler always find out how much warranty the boiler comes with from the manufacturer. If the manufacturer is prepared to give you a good warranty then they must have confidence in their appliance, this is a good rule of thumb. Still today some manufacturers offer 2, 3, 4 and even 5 year warranties.......Look for one that offers 7 years plus! Also....check the warranty offered....parts and labour, parts only? And how many hoops are they going to ask you to jump through? Main dealer service only or any Gas Safe Registered installer? We recommend the Alpha Evoke 28kw, complete with an out of the box Alpha warranty of 7 years ( can increase ) and only hoop you have to jump through is to have your boiler serviced by any gas safe registered installer.
What are the benefits of powerflushing?
The main benefit of having your system PowerFlushed is having all the debris, sludge and rust particles removed from your radiators, boiler and pipework. This enables your system to run at a much higher efficiency, thus reducing your gas consumption and running costs. Powerflushing increases the longevity of your complete heating system and validates the warranty on your new boiler, as all manufacturers now require a Powerflush of an existing system if you are having a new boiler fitted. We highly recommend a magnetic system filter to be fitted after a powerflush - this traps and keeps all the sludge ( magnetite ) that builds up over time, and can be removed when you have your boiler serviced. This keeps your system in ‘Tip Top’ condition - reducing faults and breakdowns over the boilers lifespan.
What are the benefits of installing an unvented cylinder?
Unvented cylinders are generally installed in larger properties with multiple hot water outlets. Giving the homeowners a higher equalised pressure of water from both hot and cold outlets such as bath taps or shower. If the incoming cold water mains pressure is of adequate pressure, multiple outlets can be in use at the same time. No need for tanks in the loft as these are a sealed unit, and these can be sited in more places than a standard cylinder. Heating up times and heat recovery are greatly increased when correctly installed with a system boiler. If you are thinking of changing your existing ‘standard’ cylinder with tanks in loft - give consideration to updating your boiler and pipework ( if they have been in your home for 20 years plus ) .
