We had an issue with out boiler and also a leaking radiator. I asked a builder friend whose opinion we really value if he knew anyone who could look at it for us and he recommended Myles. I gave Myles a ring and 20 minutes later he arrived at our house, gave our boiler and impromptu complete service and fixed the leaking radiator. He also gave advice on how best to use the system efficiently and effectively and improvements we could make next summer that would help our heating system work even better next year. Myles took real care in the work he was doing, and he stayed for quite a while after he had completed the work, just observing our boiler and heating system until he was satisfied it was working as expected. The whole experience was friendly, professional and confidence inspiring. And also reasonably priced. I would recommend Myles to others and look forward to seeing him again next time we need him.

How often should a boiler be serviced?
A boiler should be serviced annually, for new boilers this will keep the warranty/guarantee valid for its duration. It will also ensure that your appliance is running safely and as efficiently as possible. Any competent gas safe engineer can carry out the annual service it does not need to be done by the manufacturers service agents.
Is a boiler service a legal requirement?
It is not a legal requirement to have a gas boiler serviced although it is highly recommended. Boiler manufacturers will void their warranty/guarantee if a boiler does not get an annual service for the length of the warranty/guarantee. The annual service can be carried out by any competent gas safe engineer it does not need to be carried out by the manufacturers agents. Rules are slightly different for landlords as if the appliance has not been looked after then the landlord can be held liable no matter the age of the appliance. We always recommend having your appliances serviced annually to ensure they are running safely and as efficiently as they can.
Do I need a flue liner for a gas fire?
This all depends on what the fire manufacturer requires. Certain manufacturers allow some of their fires to be installed on to existing chimneys so long as they are tested for leaks and swept if being changed from a different fuel source. It also depends on the type and condition of the existing chimney. This is something that a gas safe engineer who is qualified to install gas fires will be able to advise you on during a site inspection.
