My elderly parents in law are vulnerable so it was imperative that I found a local Electrician who we trusted, and would not let us down. Alan arrived on time, and my mother in law said she felt safe with Alan as she’d met him initially when he came to give her the quote. Alan explained to her how the trip switches work etc and he checked all of her electrics before finishing the job. They now feel safe and confident should they need AJS Essex again. It’s very hard getting in any tradesman these days when you have elderly vulnerable parents but we would definitely recommend Alan to all our friends and family.

My name is Alan and I used work for a large commercial company which allowed me to do a 4 year apprenticeship in electrical installs.
I learned many skills while training as i had to help other trades on site.
After 10 years with them I decided in 2016 to go alone and work for myself.
Since working for myself I have made sure the customer is up to date on the job and that they are happy with the works.
Also doing wide range of jobs from changing a lamp to installing or installing machinery.

How often should a house be rewired?
The average age for a rewire depends on the cable. PVC twin and earth are expected to last 25 years but that doesn't add in factors like damage or overheating. you would need a electrical installation condition report to determine if you need a rewire. The report will point out faults and non compliance to the regulation at the time. sometimes you will find that the cable seems fine and you just need to upgrade certain items. A rewire is determined by the customer at the end of the day.
What is the average cost to rewire a house?
the average cost will depend on the size of the rewire. The basic rewire can be from £2000-£4000/5000. Then there could be factors to the rewire, your additional socket or light. personally I do a ball park figure, £1000 per bedroom and then £1500-£2000 for the living room and kitchen utility room depending.
